Stainless steel grinders offer the innate benefit of being the easiest to clean and maintain. It's as easy as taking it apart and throwing it in the dishwasher after use!
Sometimes, we don't want to clean after every grind. Some of us want to clean every so often, and that's ok! Your stainless steel grinder can withstand either maintenance options.
However you wish to clean it, follow this guide to ensure your grinder lasts and performs as long as possible.
Spot Cleaning
When to do it: After every grind.
Time it will take: Not long at all.
What you’re cleaning: Lid, Grinding Plate
What you need: Included Brush, spare napkin
- Disassemble the entire grinder.
- With the included brush, dust off the Lid and the Grinding Plate onto the napkin, working through the teeth. Utilize the residuals on the napkin or store it in the Pollen Plate for later use.
- Reassemble the grinder and store for later use.
Deep Cleaning
When to do it: When it gets noticeably dirty with use; right before long-term storage.
Time it will take: About 5-10 minutes.
What you’re cleaning: Lid, Grinding Plate, Collection Plate, Pollen Plate
What you need: Included Brush, Toothbrush, Sponge, Soap and Warm Water, Paper Towel, spare napkin
- Disassemble the entire grinder.
- With the included brush, dust off every piece onto the napkin. Utilize the residuals on the napkin or wait until the end to store it in the Pollen Plate for later use.
- Give the Lid and Grinding Plate a good scrub with the toothbrush and soap. Rinse with warm water and pat dry with a paper towel. Set them on your dish rack.
- Wash the Collection and Pollen Plate with a sponge, being particularly gentle with the screen. Rinse with warm water and pat dry with a paper towel. Set them on your dish rack.
- Once completely dry, reassemble the entire grinder and store for later use.
Restorative Cleaning
When to do it: When it gets noticeably difficult to grind efficiently; stuck grinder; ANY signs of growth.
Time it will take: 1-2 hours (most of which is waiting time)
What you’re cleaning: Lid, Grinding Plate, Collection Plate, Pollen Plate
What you need: Included Brush, Toothpick, Toothbrush, Ziplock Bag OR Glass Jar, Isopropyl Alcohol (70% minimum and in a bottle), Freezer, Warm Water, Paper Towel, spare napkin
- Stick grinder in freezer. Wait 30 minutes.
- Remove grinder from freezer and disassemble. Use the included brush and a toothpick to scrape the leftover residuals into the spare napkin. Utilize the residuals on the napkin/plate or wait until the end to store it in the Pollen Plate for later use.
- Place disassembled grinder into the Ziplock bag/jar. Pour the Isopropyl Alcohol into the bag/jar, stopping when the parts are submerged. Let it soak for about 30 minutes. Swish it around every so often while you wait.
- Remove the grinder and pour out the alcohol. Give the Lid and Grinding Plate a good scrub with the toothbrush. Rinse with warm water and pat dry with a paper towel. Set them on your dish rack.
- Rinse the Collection and Pollen Plate with warm water while brushing it with the included brush, being particularly gentle with the screen. Pat dry with a paper towel. Set them on your dish rack.
- Once completely dry, reassemble the entire grinder and store for later use.
